Tips for men who buy you lingerie.

“Lingerie is one of those things you either love—or you don’t,” says Susan Carlson, owner of Posh, a new lingerie and gift shop in Highland Park and Barrington. But if you have a man who loves to buy lingerie for you, Carlson offers these tips:

• Tell him what colors you like. “It will give him a place to start,” Carlson says, adding that men are often clueless about what to buy.
• Let him know your size. “This will keep him from sizing up our sales staff,” Carlson says. “But if all else fails, ‘mediums’ are always a safe choice.”
• Be open to something sexy. “Men almost never buy pajamas. Chemises are our best-seller,” Carlson says.
