Peter Wren — The rumors are true. With more than a decade of food writing, lecturing and criticism under his expanding waistline, Peter Wren has never, ever, met a calorie he doesn’t feel the need to consume. It’s a malady he blames on his unique upbringing in a family consisting entirely of talented and opinionated home cooks. After earning the much-coveted position of “Official Family Taste Tester” at a very young age, he journeyed to Europe during college to eat, cook and drink his way through Italy, France, Germany and Great Britain. The experience diverted him from his dream of filmmaking toward studying and writing about the culinary arts. In recent years, he’s juggled teaching at the collegiate level and writing for national and local magazines with his greatest love, food writing, in hopes of pursing his ultimate goal of establishing a culinary museum and library here in Chicago. Until then, he soldiers on, one plate and review at a time. |
