Porchlight Theatre delivers a warm, intimate version of "Miracle on 34th Street," which captivates audiences of all ages.
This famous tale introduces Doris Walker, Macy's organizer of the famous Thanksgiving Day Parade. Doris, a single mother, is raising her daughter, Susan, to be a realist. When Doris hires, Kris Kringle, a kind and gentle old man, to play Santa, the magic of Christmas is introduced into the Walker's life. With the help of Doris' suitor, Fred, Susan meets Santa and becomes a believer. But, of course, not everyone believes in the magic of Santa…
Based on a novel by Valentine Davies, the original 1946 film was nominated for Best Picture. Porchlight's version offers traditional Christmas music and a simple set to make this a perfect theater experience for children. Christa Buck is a beautiful and sophisticated Doris and David Heimann, her handsome Fred. Nicole Karkazis is the charming 12-year old, Susan. Jim Sherman is the quintessential Santa with his soft, kind voice and gently demeanor.
Bring your camera, as several children from the audience participate in the visit with Santa scene. After the show, kids of all ages are welcomed on stage to visit with the "real" Santa. This show is a refreshing exposure to family entertainment—simple, traditional, and thoroughly enjoyable.
