Buy an Onstage Role for Your Valentine or Yourself!

Liberty Town Productions, Libertyville’s not-for-profit entertainment company, is auctioning a role in its next production.

Up for "silent auction" on eBay is the role of Frederick Denmark in Liberty Town Productions' four performances of “Ruthless!” the musical at Austin's Fuel Room, 481 Peterson Rd., Libertyville, on March 10, 11 and 12. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. all three evenings; a 2:30 p.m. matinee will be performed on March 12.

The winning bidders will select a man (or woman willing to play role in drag) or themselves to:

-  Perform a cameo role onstage with the “Ruthless!” cast

-  Be directed by Equity Actor Colin Douglas

-  Deliver the show's last line

-  Sing along (or lipsync, if desired) with the finale

-  Participate in final cast bows

The performer will attend one rehearsal (March 8 or 9) and the performance. In addition, the winning bidder will receive two tickets to the performance. 

“We thought it would be fun to offer this for folks who’ve always wanted to be on stage but for whatever reason haven’t been able to perform,” says Barry Reszel, one of the show’s producers. “Also, we hope to raise money to pay for the theatrical microphones we use.”

"Best Offer" bids, beginning at $150, may be submitted through eBay via links at libertytownproductions.com. Winning bids will be tax-deductible donations to Liberty Town Productions, a 501 (c) (3) public charity. Any other donations—monetary and “in kind” from individuals and businesses—are also tax-deductible.

All bidders will receive notice 24-48 hours prior to the end of bidding with an "auction update" and an opportunity to change their bid. All will also be notified immediately if another bidder "wins" this auction with a "buy it now" donation of $1,000 or more. The final winning bid will be declared and announced at midnight on Feb.13.
