The St. Louis Cardinals drafted North Shore native and New Trier High School center fielder Charlie Tilson on Tuesday.
He was the 79th overall pick in the MLB draft. At the time he was drafted, Tilson was unsure if he was going to sign with the Cardinals or play baseball for the University of Illinois in the fall. He has until August 15 to make his decision. Regardless, Tilson was excited and honored to be drafted.

Also drafted was Northwestern University third basement, Chris Lashmet, who grew up in Wilmette and graduated from New Trier Township High School. Chris was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates as the first pick of the 33rd round.
