Role Models for Positive Aging

Getting older is more than the years that pass … it’s a journey.

For some, the journey is shortened by circumstances, such as health, or predetermined by genetics. Some aging experts believe that we can extend our genetic predisposition by living a healthy lifestyle. On the other hand, we have the power to shorten our lives by external circumstances and behaviors.

Many of the older adults featured in this issue of Make It Better might be considered role models for positive aging. One common thread throughout our stories is the love, support and involvement of adult children. While genetics and health play a big role in a positive aging experience, family is the most powerful of all.
