There must be something in the water in the northern suburbs, because women here love to write.
Most of us can barely make a library run without bumping into an author in our midst—and our voracious love of reading is certainly a part of the phenomenon. Women here have great stories to tell and the confidence to commit them to paper (or e-paper!). And, they are supported by world-class local resources—the Lake Forest-based Ragdale Foundation is just one example.
So this month, we feature some literary ladies:

Annie Burnside: a mother who parents with soul

Sherill Bodine: a glamorous romance novelist

Carolyn Crimi: a prolific children’s book author

Parneshia Jones: an award-winning poet who has represented Chicago on a world stage

Laurie Richter: a market researcher helping kids make their college athletic dreams come true

Fern Schumer Chapman: a journalist whose acclaimed work ranges from memoir to historical fiction.
