Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Service and Inspiration

The Volunteer Center (serving NE suburban Chicago) and The Interfaith Housing Center of the Northern Suburbs are teaming up for the third year to offer an exceptional day of service and inspiration for people of all ages.

Give Time

Sponsored by Harris Bank, individuals, groups and families are invited to help the homeless, hospitalized and underserved children and orphaned pets with no-sew-blankets, scarves and pet toys, as well as alphabet books.

To inspire the volunteers, special featured guests—including comedian Aaron Freeman, The Soul Children of Chicago Choir, The Reverend Calvin Morris, Storyteller Susan O'Halleran and the Writers' Theatre—will perform and educate.

Project location:

Am Shalom, 840 Vernon in Glencoe
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (stay as long as desired, lunch will be available for purchase)
Bring: 2 yards of fleece fabric and fabric scissors

Give Things

In addition to the fleece fabric for the projects, please bring a box of laundry detergent for the New Trier Township Food Pantry.
